He scored runs at the crucial stage for his team in the recently-concluded tournament while batting at different places, as required.
In a bid to find a wicket-keeper of the International standard, Pakistan Cricket Board has given wicket-keeping opportunities to M Salman, Adnan Akmal, Zulqarnain Haider and Sarfraz Ahmed in past and none of them have been able to cement their place in the national side.
Anwar appears to be an exciting prospect and someone who has the temperament to deliver the goods when the going gets tough. PCB’s selection committee should definitely keep a close watch on wicketkeeper Anwar Jamal, hails from Rawalpindi, as he could prove to be an asset in future.
Another player, Awais Zia opened the innings for the same team, a left-handed opener just managed 127 runs in five matches in the tournament. However, he is very stylish and resembles Pakistan’s former opener, Saeed Anwar. Awais has all the shots under his belt and has the ability to take on the best of the bowlers. He played a crucial cameo in the final of the tournament, which turned out to be extremely important in the run-chase. He took on Sohail Khan in the Super over and struck some meaty blows to clinch the title for his region.
