Ejaz Butt lands in New Zealand to announce captain

The hottest debate in cricketing world these days is who will lead Pakistan cricket team in the upcoming World Cup which also confused the International Cricket Council (ICC) itself as yesterday, they wrongly
published the name of Misbah as skipper of Pakistan team for which they apologized after few hours.

When everybody is discussing the debate of Pakistan team skipper, it seems that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is in no hurry to announce it as they are taking its time to take the final decision. PCB boss Ejaz Butt has arrived in New Zealand today after attending his business meetings in China and will monitor the performance of current skipper Shahid Afridi himself in the ongoing one day series against Black Caps.

Ejaz Butt had bitter relationship with current skipper Shahid Afridi as he over-looked his instructions on many occasions in the past. Afridi’s bad habit to speak frequently with media and always criticizing his players after every defeat in media especially when his own performance wasn’t up to the mark, has caused negative impact on his case of the captaincy in the mega event.

Sources in the PCB have said  “The probability for Misbah to lead Pakistan is very high as you can expect anything from the current chairman of PCB. Shahid Afridi’s own performance isn’t good which is also affecting his chances in the captaincy case.”

The controversies follows Pakistan cricket especially during the tenure of current chairman Ejaz Butt, who was nominated as PCB boss in October 2008 by cricket board Patron-in-Chief and President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari. Ejaz Butt has the habit of playing changing skipper game as Pakistan have as many as six captains in the last 27 months which includes Shoaib Malik, Younus Khan, Mohammad Yousuf, Shahid Afridi, Salman Butt and now Misbah-ul-Haq.

Former cricketer and seasoned businessman Ejaz Butt had represented Pakistan cricket team from 1959 to 1962 as a wicket keeper and right handed opening batsman. He played eight test matches for Pakistan and scored only 279 runs at an average of 19.92.
