Bangladesh to host Asia Cup in 2012: ACC

Bangladesh has been awarded the rights to host the 2012 Asia Cup after an executive committee meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in Dhaka, said an announcement on Monday.
The tournament will be held at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur from March 1 to March 12.
Bangladesh hosted the Asia Cup last time in 2000.

Pakistan had also filed a bid  to stage Asia cup of 2012 but Pakistan's isolation in international cricket continued with India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh refusing to support the country's bid to secure hosting rights for the 2012 Asia Cup at a recent meeting of the Asian Cricket Council in Dhaka.

According to sources, PCB chairman Ijaz Butt and Sultan Rana, who represented Pakistan at the ACC executive council meeting, had offered to host the 2012 event at a neutral venue and suggested Dubai.
